The SENIOR BOYS' VOLLEYBALL TEAM dominated the South Simcoe League with a 7 win, no loss season. Unfortunately, after hard fought play, we were defeated in the Simcoe Championships. Powerful defensive play was continuously shown by Jamie Heg- gedal, Mike Neil and Derek Knight. Other members of the team contributed both offen- sively and defensively to make this a compet- itive team. Members of this squad (TOP LT.) were: (BK. ROW) Dereck Knight, Jeff Akitt, Luke McCaffrey, Jake Hibbs (BOT. ROW) Jer- emy Hall, Jason Weis, Rickie Morris, Mike Neil, Matt Glasgow AB.: Jamie Heggedal, Coach Redman
The JUNIOR BOYS' VOLLEYBALL TEAM had an excellent season. They played with skill and determination and were re- warded with impressive results. At both the St. Joe's and Barrie Eastview Invitational 'Iburnaments, the team reached the semi- finals. Later in the season, the Owls travelled to Streetsville in Mississauga where they lost a closely contested final.
The team's league record was 7 and 1. Again advancing through the South Region and Sim- coe County Play-offs, the team advanced to GBSSA where they lost a close decision to Bar- rie Innisdale in the final.
Congratulations boys on becoming GBSSA fin- alists! Members of this team (BOT. LT.) were: (BK. ROW) Coach Richmire, Josh McNulty, Thd Kern, Brian Kemsley. (MID. At the Holy Trinity Invitational they defeated all opponents to claim the cham- pionship.
At the county qualifier, CCI was undefeated and claimed the top seed at the GBSSA cham- pionships. On GBSSA day at Barrie St. Joes, the squad finished a round robin play at 2 and 1. Unfortunately, a tough loss against Midland S.S. created a 3-way tie and, using the O:V.A. formula, the team was eliminated from further play.
The coaches enjoyed working with all13 play- ers and wish them good fortune in many vol- leyball seasons that lie ahead. An overall season record of 23 and 0 was indicitive of a superb season. Members of this team were: (MID. LT.): (BK. ROW) Nick Comly, Ryan Adams, Mark Vancise, Richard 'Ibsh, John McPherson, (MID. ROW) Coach Chandler, Anil Gill, Angus Birchall, Lyle Rolling, Greg Chan- isisay, Coach Brown. (BOT. ROW) Jason Camp- bell, Jesse Johnston, Tyler Finnie, Ryan Hogg. BOT. RT.: Jamie Heggedal obtains superb height with a hard-driven spike. TOP RT.: Sean Kelly is left in the air after an opponent's block. MID. RT.: Josh McNulty awaits his turn on the bench while (UPPER RT.) it is not al- ways easy accepting a disappointing defeat.
