jTEACHERS
MR. JOHN NELL
Born in Oosterbeek, Holland, John emi- grated to Canada in 1950 to a small farm in Simcoe County. John spent most of his youth working on farms near Horseshoe Valley and Stayner. His early training at Dey's Autobody eventually led him to
open his own shop: Nell's Collision Repair". Fortunately for CCI, John decided to enter the teaching profession at General Vanier S.S. in Oshawa. Three years later, in 1971, he was hired to open the new autobody facility at CCI. Many tradespeople in Simcoe County fondly remember Mr. Nell's class as their first introduc- tion to a wage-earning skill.
John has always been interested in helping students both in and out of school. For a number of years he coached Cross-Country Skiing and Biathalon, and worked with Scouts. Johns penchant for lifelong learning earned him a degree from Wilfred Laurier University in 1986.
Now, after 27 years in teaching, John has decided to change course and begin a new stage in life with his wife, Carol, and their three sons. John's sense of humour and friendly smile will be sorely missed around CCI, but rumour has it that if you're looking for John in September, you'll most likely find him on the golf course at Blue Mountain. John, on~ehalfof the 2,000 students you have taught over the years, we wish you a great future!
