AKE YOUR KIDS 10 WOR
The workplaces of Collingwood and area businesses had extra staff members on November 6th as 280 grade 9 students from CCI joined their parents/guardians at work for 'Take Our Kids to Work Day'. CCI was joined with the local Chamber of Commerce to introduce the world of work to these students. To prepare for this day, each student was involved in class- room lessons on careers and the nature of the workplace. They were also given an assignment that was completed while they were at work. Classroom time followed on November 6th to share each students' experiences, for example: -flying to North Carolina with dad -- an Air Canada pilot - getting up at 5:00
a.m. to be at work by 6:00 a.m. - being an ambulance attendant on a 12 hour shift in Toronto- bricking the new mall in Wasaga Beach - installing artificial joints (knees, hips, etc) at University Hospital in London. Thank you to all the parents, businesses and volunteers for making the day such a tremendous success. (TOP LT) Carolyn Langford, Jen Mercer and Shawn Payne.
