What may turn out to be the last Grey Cup was held in Hamilton with the Argonauts claiming the title. Canadians were certainly glad to see the cup return- ed to its' native home. However, the Stanley Cup did pass south of the border to the Colorado Avalanches, formerly the Quebec Nordics. The tennis world was rocked by the comeback of Monica Seles after her stabbing. The New York Yankees beat out the Atlanta Braves in order to capture the 1996 World Series -a title that they hadn't seen since 1978. Roberto Alomar's accomplishments had made him hero in T oronto until he decided to spit at an ump. Tiger Woods bypassed going to university in order to enter the professional world of golf. By the end of the year, he was ranked number one. For the second time in a row, the Super Bowl was dominated by the Dallas Cowboys. The Chicago Bulls led the National Basketball League with

a record-setting season. Junior Hockey's World Cup, formerly the Canada Cup, was run for the fifth straight time by the Canadian Junior Team , raising questions about the tournament's name. No one could have showed more jubilation than Donovan Bailey as he finished the 100m sprint with gold and a new world record at the Atlanta Olympics. He then turned around and captured gold once more with the relay team . CCI's own Kale Stephens won the Jr. World Championship in snowboarding and Brian Burtch came home with a wrestling title. Collingwood Collegiate's head secretary, Mrs. Hender- son, beamed with pride as she spoke o1 her daughter, Dara and partner receiving a first place finish in the Canadian Junior Skating Championships.
