Mr. Martin has taught numerous subjects at C.C.I. because of his caring flexibility and love for students. Mr. Ed Seidle has long been a man of words and a man of action.
During a long, distinguished and active career at Collingwood Collegiate, Mr. Seidle has pur- sued his passion for language and literature as a teacher and his love of wrestling as a coach. This combination has long been part of Mr. Seidle's life.
Mr. Seidle attended the University of Western Ontario from 1960-64. There he gained his EngĀ· lish degree and was on the wrestling team. Un- fortunately, an injury ended his career on the mats. English teaching and coaching became his main areas of focus.
In 1970, Mr. Seidle made his way to Colling- wood where he has stayed for the last 26 years. At C.C.I., he has taught English and has, of course, coached countless wrestlers. Mr. Seidle has provide caring assitance to staff and students alike.
Mr. Gary Maracle found himself grow- ing up in Chatham, Ontario. After years of education, Mr. Maracle came to Col- lingwood Collegiate Institute to teach in many subject areas including small en- gines and welding. Mr. Maracle taught in Collingwood Collegiate's technical de- partment for twenty-one years and was loved by all students who passed through his classroom door.
While here at C.C.I., Mr. Maracle was known as 'Mr. Fix-It'. He had the know- ledge and capability to fix anything that was in need of repair, especially the bas- ketball net rims and sound system stands.
cades, Mr. Martin was an award win- ning sailor and, at one point, owned one of the fastest racing boats in our area. Along with his love for boating, Mr. Martin is a conneseur for beer and wine making and a collector of exotic fish. His largest fish makes a piranha look small!
Mr. Martin will ever be remembered by his students and staff who passed threw the door of his class. Congratulations on your retirement and best luck in the future.
All of us know that the classroom is one place where good things grow under Mr. Seidle's care. Everyday he drives to C.C.I. from Meaford where he has his own farm. As the unofficial mayor of Griersville, days start early and end late. No doubt those cookies in the glove compartment have come in handy for a quick pick me-up!
Still, most of all, those of us at C.C.I. will re- member the kind words with which Ed ap- proached each of us. Those who have been in his class will attest to the fair and tempered man- ner he brought to the study of English.
Thank you Ed for all you have given. Enjoy the time ahead an remember us fondly.
During his retirement, Mr. Maracle will continue to enjoy playing softball in the summer and hockey for the Wa- saga Star's Oldtimers Team. In addi- tion to his love for both softball and hockey, Mr. Maracle also had a passion for football. This led to a 10 year com- mitment of coaching the Senior team at C.C.I. to for over ten years here at C.C.I.
Mr. Maracle will forever be remem- bered by his former students and staff members as a caring teacher and friend. Congratulations and best luck in the days ahead.
