Bringing it down to the wire, the Junior Owls bring
home a GB title.
he Junior Girls Basketball Team had an out- Tstanding season. At the Regionals, the Fighting
Owls faced the Eastview Wildcats in a game
to determine the finalists and the Owls came out on top with a 9 point win. This was the tough Barrie school's first loss. With Jodie Switzer's 31 points, the girls advanced into the GBs. The Central Redskins were the main competitor at this event and
at the beginning of the 4th quarter, Barrie crept ahead for the first time. With quick passes to Courtnie, the game was tied. Other baskets meant that the team
was ahead for the rest of the game with a final score of 37- 35. The girls were proud to bring the GBSSA championship. Congratulations go to all players
and coaches of this fine Fighting Owl team. Members of this winning team (BOT L'D were: Joanne Peddle, Erin McAndrew, Courtnie Davidson, Cheryl Kemsley, Caitlin MacFarlane, Shannon Huxtable, Jessica Brei- tenfeld, Marcie Chaudet, Katie Lloyd, Jodie
Switzer, Keira MacFarlane, Ashley Cornfield, Danielle Garvie, Stephanie Bevan, Jenn Buie, Amanda Haynes and Coaches Stoutenberg, Justin Corriveau and Bryon Garon. The Sr. 'Fighting Owl' Girls Basketball Team enjoyed an excellent season + were within a few points of representing the Central Division at GBSSA. Their over-all record was 8 wins and 5 losses. The highlight if the season was a silver medal at the Owen Sound Tournament. The girls knocked off bigger schools
from London and Guelph to progress to the finals. These girls should be commended for their sportsman- ship and high level of play. The team bids a fond fare- well to Bobbi McNairn, Kelly O'Neil, Nicole Millman and Angela Parks. Other members of this team (BOT MID) are: Laura Stevenson, Katherine Sencar, Laura Powers, Erin Shaw, Pareen Gill, Jenn Ley,
Tiffany Jarvis and Coach Crago. Kelly O'Neil (fOP R'D was one of two Sr. captains.
Jodie Switzer, a top scorer, also acted as a co- captain on the Jr. Owl team.
