 Senior Basketball Team stars at OFSSA in front
of hometwon crowd.
c CI's Junior Owls posted a season record of 12 and 9 and finished third in the central division.
They were led by second year players Mike Hillier (Point Guard), John Jardine (Shooting
Guard), Ryan Anderson (Shooting Guard), Josh Frizell (For- ward) and Chad Amis (Forward). Derek Gardhouse and Mike Broadhurst showed future potential at the forward position while Albert Vancise impressed with his hustle. Other mem- bers of the'Junior Team (MID LT) were Kyle Draper, Josh Kennedy, Collin Matanowitsch, Richard Mathews, Mark Mc- Carl, Greg Murch and Joe Shaw. Coach Allard would like to congratulate all of the players for their good sportsmanship and hopes that they will continue their development in the senior ranks. The Senior Boys Team (TOP L n experienced a very memorable season as they made the playoffs for the 14th consecutive year in the tough Central Division. This year's edition were only the second CCI B-ball team in school his- tory to compete in OGSAA championships and the only one to compete in front of the home crowd as Collingwood
hosted OFSAA. Tournament results included being in the Oril- lia Blackball B Finalists and consolation champions in both the Dundas Parkside and Toronto's Silverthorn Invitationals. The Senior Owls were led by Mark Vancise- Simcoe County All- Star and Mr. CCI Defense; Nick Comly- Simcoe County All-Star and CCI leader in rebounds and Double Doubles. Other graduating Seniors include Dundas Parkside All- Star John McPherson, Marcus (Shimmy Shake) Ludlow, and Sasa Junuzovic- CCI's academic three- point shooter. Returning Senior Owls include Bryan Garon, who ran the offense and was an Orillia Blackball All-Star; Craig Broadhurst- the big man with the soft baseline jumper, and Joe Prokopec- whose aggressive style produced many rebounds. New faces on this year's squad included Ryan Rice- shooting guard, Mike Li- otta- continuing the family basketball tradition; backup point guard, Jacob Carr, forward Andrew Comly; and transfers Oril- lia All-Star Jon Cudney and Jeremy Bell- OFSAA cover boy from Meaford. Congratulations go the great coaching team of Hirst and Fisher.
