S. BROWN
Mn. Sue Brown came to CCI in the summer of 1977 as a membe~ of the Phy. Ed staff. During her yean at Collingwood Collegiate, she bas taught physical education, Health, English and Library. She bas always been known for her patience and yean after graduation, students have returned to thank her for her excellent classes and the tremendous personal support. During these years, she has been involved in many areas outside the classroom where she has coached volleyball, organized the Library Club and initiated the Peer Mediation
Programme. With her quiet,
unassuming manner, she has helped many students resolve a variety of conflicts. Mrs. Brown has retired to her horne in Thornbury where she enjoys working in her garden, playing golf, taking long walks with her dog and, of coune, helping her neighbours. We wish her all the best.
M. AIKENS
Mr. Manh Aikens retired during the summer of '98, leaving a job that be had loved for thirty- one years. For 28 of those years, be was CCI's Business Director, specializing in law and accounting. Even though he bad graduated from high school as a Barrie North Viking, be had an illustrious career serving the Fighting owls as a boys and girls basketball, golf and nordic ski coach. Outside of the classroom, his career was highlighted with a year teaching in Australia and watching his two children, Mike and Christine, graduate from CCI. In the service of other, Mr. Aikens has held many positions on many organizations and his role as Director Councillor of the Ontario Business Education Association has helped many others. In our own community, be bas worked as President and board member of Collingwood Community Living. Always an athlete, Mr. Aikens plans to enter his retirement with golf, hockey, skiing and kayaking. A third trip to Australia is also part of his plans. He wishes his fellow retiring colleagues well and to his friends and colleagues be bas left behind at CCI, "Keep your stick on the ice!"
F. JARDINE
Mr. Fred Jardine spent his formative years in the land of 'Anne of Green Gables'- Prince Edward Island. After obtaining a degree from Mt. Allison University, he travelled to Ontario to make his fortune. He began his teaching career at Roland Michener High School. After one year in the north, he moved for a brief stint to Burlington before beading to CCI to join the math department. As an assistant bead of that department, he has always been a valued member of the staff. he has been very active in the Federation, serving as Branch President from 1975-78. There was a time when be thought that the grass was greener on the other side and packed up his family for a move to California. Although he enjoyed the experience,
the call of the north was too strong and he returned after two years to resume his position at CCI. Mr. Jardine could always be called upon when it was time for fund-raising and he has coached many winning Collingwood teams in the areas of golf, basketball, badminton, track and field and badminton. For over 30 yean, be led the golf team to championships. Well done, Mr. Jardine. You will be sadly missed.
