The 2002 Senior Team's football season got off to a quick start with exhi- bition victories over Gray Highlands of Flesherton and Western Technical and Commercial School of Toronto. A solid core of three year seniors and other returning veterans lead the way for an impressive crop of rookies and graduated juniors.
League play began with victories over Eastview and Bear Creek under the lights of Midhurst. Efforts sagged with a loss to traditional rival Innisdale. Wins over Central and Orillia District gave the Owls second place and a buy into the GBSSA semi finals. The semi was a hard fought affair with a momentum shifting on almost every series. A huge fumble recovery and 75 yd touchdown run seemed to seal a victory for the Owls, but alas, the football gods were cruel that day. Two late scores by Eastview finished the Owls season in a heartbreaking fashion.
This Owls team will be remembered as one of the most athletic clubs in recent memory. Good luck to all of our graduating players and every suc- cess in your future endeavours.
