 Varsity Girls and Junior Boys Golf Teams completed at the Tan- gle Creek Golf Club in Barrie at the Simcoe County Athletic Association Fall Qualifier. The Varsity Girls Team made their first ever appear- ance for CCI in a golf tournament. The team qualified first overall, lead by the strong play of Kristy McLaughlin and Kaitlin Garbutt. Natalie Potts and Paige Meesters rounded out this victorious team. The Junior division featured sev- eral strong players and teams.
The Junior Fighting Owls were able to qualify in the top have of the field for the GBSSA championships in the spring. Fine performances by Peter Switzer, Corey Ellis, Scott Benedict, Shawn Perdy, Jeremy McEachern and Kurtis Boyce al- lowed the team to achieve their goal of qualifying and hope to repeat as GBSSA champions.
One week later, the Senior Golf Team finished third in a strong field of fourteen schools to qualify for the spring GBSSA championships. The team finished with a combined total of 327, a mere 14 strokes behind tournament champs Barrie North. The Owls were lead by Braden McGregor's and Mark Garbutt's 77, and Ryan Purdy's 81. The other members of this season's golf team were Kyle Burnie, Chris Assaf£ and
Kurt Wilson.
The CCI Swim Team competed at the Georgian Bay champion- ships earning a trip to OFSAA in late March. Team members who competed at OFSAA were Dave McKechnie,Justin Visser, Megan McAndrew, Brooke Ellis, Scott Denbok, Nik Keast and Airlea Manhester. Dave won the 100- m. breaststroke and received third in the 400-m. free swim. Nik came in twelfth in 50-m. fly and Megan came in twelfth in
100-m.breaststroke.Othermem- bers of the team were Chelsea Stoklas, Heidi Irion, Verginia Walker, Kathleen Belanger, Saha Flewelling, Sarah-jayne Benedit, Loanne Lalonde, Heather Kea, Krista McKee, Mandy Thompson and Denny Rowan.
The Senior Tennis Team con- sisted of Shannon Huxtable, Julie Attridge, anne Branhut, Patrick Findlay, Kristen Sinclair, Erin Buie, Ashley Cornfield, Alex Ainley, Josh Hall, Ryan Kristy, Jennifer Ridsdale, Grant Wilkinson, Travis Ainley, and Tiffany Reasbeck.
Due to a strike within the Cathlic board, CCI's tennis team suffered a short season with GB's being held in the Spring. Therefore, CCI held their own turnament with Patrik Findlay placing first in Boys Singles and Kristen Sindear and Erin Buie winning gold in Girls Doubles.
