The stakes often ran high and there were some who often found themselves loosing 2 or 3 thousand 'pieces of eight' in a single game. At the time, a farm could have been purchased for this amount. However, once in port, the swashbuck- lers had to work hard in or- der to be prepared for their next villainous voyage. The crew had to careen, or beach and repair their ship as well as take on fresh water and provisions. Unlike the pirate

Even when not in port, the Fighting Owls are working together in the classroom, the gym, or on the field, from the captain of the ship to the newest grade niner. This is why this team rules the high seas!!! This is why we hoist so many names on the Honour Roll or bring home the gold in the form of GB championships. The Fight- ing Owls are not to be reck- oned with on land or water!
