No Mutiny Here!
Privateering was very dif- ferent from the act of piracy as it was legal and in it's time, was generally considered to be a highly respected and of- ten admired profession. They were in many ways like a navy, and it's sailors and of- ficers were paid from the pro- ceeds of the captured ships. Privateers were privately owned warships licensed by Letters of Marque and to re- ceiveone,abondofover1000 pounds had to be posted.
This ensured that the sea go- ing vessel would be recog- nized for it's good behaviour. The privateers of Colling- wood Collegiate have long been recognized for their su- perb leadership and dedica- tion. They are useful at pro- viding income for the ship, as well as the community. They are very successful at rallying the crewto a united front and they are noted for their strength in home waters as well as afar.
