The Life Skills Class were involved in many competitions this year. Members of this superb team are Dana Varley, Joey Verbruggen, KayIa Tateyama, Mrs.Gordon, Jess Dillon, Nurse Karen, Mrs.NicoU, Stephanie Criddle, Jenny Santori, Jamie Dickey, Mrs. Rentner, Mrs.Halliday, Raven Hawton , Mr. McCarl and Bradon Wilson.
Thisyear'sFightingOwl Cross-countryRunningTeamcontinued the winning tradition here at C.C.I. by once again capturing the coveted 'Golden Boot" which recognizes the top school team in Simcoe County. Both the boys as well as the girls were 2nd , Junior Girls were 7th while the Midget girls were 2nd , junior Girls were 1st, Senior Girls were 7th while Midget Boys were 1st, Junior boys were 4th and Senior Boys were 1st. At the GBSSA Championships, hosted by C.C.I. at Highlands Nordic in Duntroon, The Collingwood Collegiate team placed 3rd overall- a mere 4 points out of the the Championship postion. Leading the may were the Midget girls (Kalli Green , Heidi Mayer, Danielle Genoe and Amanda Stephens) and the senior Boys (Peter Switzer, LAnce Dobinson, Rob Fendley , Fraser Boucher and Chris Jeffery) who were both crowned as GBSSA Champions abd went on to represent the school admirably at the OFSAA Championships in Gueph. Also, Steven PArkes and Derrick Wood qualified to be part of OFSAA in the Midget Boys' race. At OFSAA the midgets were 28th in Ontario while the Boys were 15th overall in the province. Top finishers at OFSAA including KAlli green (76th) in the Midget Girls race, Steven PArkes (89th) amongst the Midget Boys and Peter Switzer (52nd) in the senior Boys race.In all it was a great season for the Owls who will look forward to the opportunity to defend their Simcoe County title for the third time. For now, THE BOOT LIVES IN THE "WOOD"!
