InNathan Lourie, Chad North, James Vander Groef, Brad Boyle, Jeremy Orton, Graham Kempster and the late return of Scott Bishop this unit had a group of linemen who were all career football players. They featured size, toughness and lots experience which allowed them to dominate the opposition when they felt like it. They punched huge holes which allowed backs, Tyler Dice and Tyler Barrette to run wild. Sound pass blocking allowed QB Jake Matzanke to hit his receivers, like newcomer Corey Ellis, at will. Defensively the Sr. Owls were lead by returning captain Ben Bell. He and rookie tackling machine Zac Cuff dragged down ball carriers with alarming frequency. Unfortunately for this crew injuries took their toll and three games were lost by a total of 5 points. ( probably due to coaching ). Last minute drives for touchdowns were the signature of this club but failed conversions proved to be costly in three games. These endings
will be talked about for years by players and coaches alike. Off the field, 2005 saw the creation ofthe football alumni association. This group, focussed on improving football in " the Wood, " provides support for current players as well exciting events for the old boys to rehash their moments of glory on the grid iron. Next year will feature a massive rebuilding of both lines due to graduation of players but there is no doubt that the footballers from old CCI will be up for the challenge.
