Andrew Palmer ran the offense and added valuable defense from the point, Josh James was the third leading scorer and Justin Ford was the leading three-point shooter for the CCI Seniors. Colin Hesp played solid defense and had a patented baseline jumper with Zack O'Gorman leading the three-point paradeintheBarrieShootout. CamMcLaughlinplayedstrong defense and grabbed valuable boards, with Sean LeSaux adding more strength inside for the Wood, and rookie Kris DaSilva showed much improvement over the year.
In what was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Junior Girls the team had tremendous success, winning consolation championships in two tournaments, coming second in league play, and making it to the GBSSA finals for the 7th straight year. In the GBSSA Championships held in Barrie. The Team had an exceptional defensive game in the semi-finals defeating last years GB Champions the Bear Creek Kodiaks by a score of 44 -32.TheOwlattack was led by Emily Niermann's 16 points with Jen Lavers adding 10, and Devon Franklin and Kate McKay both dropping in 7. In the Championship final on Saturday the team stayed close to the Eastview Wildcats the entire game before dropping a 44 -35 point decision. The team was again led in scoring by Emily Niermann who shot in 14 points, with Devon Franklinscoring 10.Theteamhadanexceptionalseasonfinishing with a record of21 wins against only ?losses. The team will miss the skills of players graduating to the Sr. team.
The members of the Jr. Girls Basketball Team (ABOVE) are Emma Bell, Jordan Brown, Sam Currie, Courtney Erickson, DevonFranklin,Rachel Hamilton,lillian Hanrahan,Jen Lavers, 3illian McFarlane, Kate McKay, Emily Niermann, Marni Sandell and Tristin Vogel. The members of the Sr. Girls Basketball feam (BEL) are Katie Bell, Sarah Bruce, Tonya Cailles, fasmine Cuff, Michaela Dance, Brittni Gill, Natalie Hastings, PaigeMeesters, Brooke Nickel, Julia Roest, Chelsea Stoklas and i\llison de Ruiter.
The Senior Girls Basketball Team had an outstanding year in 2005. The Collingwood Seniors reached the GBSSA Senior "AAAA" Final for the 6'h consecutiveyear. TheOwlsfinishedwith19victoriesagainst8defeatsoverthe season. CCI captured two tournaments, winning the 12-team Kawartha Classic in Peterborough and the George Brown Invitational in Toronto. The Senior Owls went undefeated in league play, and defeated a team in the Toronto Star Top Ten for the fifth year in a row, and did not lose to any team from Georgian Bay until their loss in the GB final to Barrie Innisdale. Captain Brooke Nickel was George Brown MVP , our best ball handler, top scorer, and an outstanding defensive player. Captain Jasmine Cuff was the defensive leader in the post, while first-year Senior Brittany Gill was the second leading scorer and the leading rebounder for the Owls, and a tournament All-Star at George Brown. Chelsea Stoklas was the assistant Chairman of the Boards and was second on the team in shooting percentage. Katie Bell provided speed and scoring, with Michaela Dance adding good ball handling and passing in the guard spot. Paige Meesters was a solid defender at guard with Julia Roest adding steals and passing. Tonya Cailes played strong at both ends of the court, with Allison DeRuiter adding points and rebounds in the post. Sarah Bruce was the backup point guard and Natalie Hastings added speed and energy on the court. In 2005 the tradition of success of the CCI Senior Girls Basketball continued.
