The Junior Fighting Owls Football Team had a strong season this year, but
unfortunately fell in the championship game to a tough Eastview Wildcats squad. The Owls finished with a record of 7-2 with their only other loss coming against Banting earlier in the year. Despite losing the final game, the Owls managed to outscore their opponents 237-147 throughout the year and had one ofthe best air attacks the Junior Division has ever seen.
:adership on the team was provided by second year pivot Jamie Cook who was both a leader on and off the field. Aaron Dickenson, Kyle Crowe, Brandon Kempster,
[ichael Bishop and Mitch Guilfoyle used the experience they earned during their first ·ear of football to become valuable contributors on a team that was filled with talent. espite a mid-season injury, Josh Reason carried the ball very well and combined with llback Josh Gomer to provide a one-two punch from the running back position. Both .eason and Gomer will move to the senior team in the fall and returning running back
Connor Linton will shoulder the ground game of the Junior Owls. Defensively this season, the Owls were strong and managed to consistently shut out pponents in the second half. Free agent acquisitions Brad Hammond, Corey Griffen,
and Kris Dobinson provided the toughness that this side of the ball requires. Ben
j vingstone emerged as a force on the line and Jesse Clipperton provided some much
needed tackles in key situation.
~he Junior Owls will look to be strong again next year with lineman lain Sheen, Zack
oucher, JP Innis and Zach Bickmore returning. The receiving will be left in the hands •f Jake Roque and converted linebacker Jon Maecker. The Owls also look forward to nany additions from current grade 9 players and our athletes from our feeder schools.
