st May we arrived at Barrie North for the Annual Life Skills Special Olympics only to ,ediately notice that of the 14 schools in attendance, we had the smallest team. Ob well, we ded that we may be small in size, but we were huge with school spirit. We put our greatest rt into each activity and had a lot of fun along the way . At the end of the day , all teams were ~d together and the results were read. They announced that the award was being given to the
est team. We couldnt win this one. The next award went to the spirited team. That had to be Nope! They named off the 3rd place team. Again, not us. Then second place was called out
again CCI wasnt named. At this point, we were starting to give up hope and our athletes were dng down in the mouth. We knew that we wouldnt win 1st place because we had such a small n. The event co-ordinator announced the final award- 1st place to Collingwood Collegiate! I
. always remember this moment as I watched the realization that we had just captured the title
w on each coach and athletes faces. We screamed. We gave high fives. We hugged each
~r. As well as a huge trophy, we also won a micro- wave oven for our classroom.
1gratulations go to our fine team of athletes Stephanie Criddle, Joey Verbruggen, Jessi Dillon, lie Dickey, Brandon Wilson, Justin Newman and Coaches O'Leary, Mrs. Halliday, Mrs. keman and Nurse Jen McCarl. It goes to show you that great things come in small packages!!!
