Mr. Tudor- When I was 17, I tried a strong cigarette, Export A, and got sick. Since then I have never done it again.
-Since the 1990s, girls 15 to 19 have smoking rates th<;1t are higher than boys. In 2005, the smoking rate for both girls and boys 15 to 19 was the same. at 18%.
-Teens aged 15 to 19 who smoke consume an average of 11 cigarettes a day, down from 13 a day in 1999.
-The highest smoking rates are for young adults age 20 to 24 years at 26%, although greatly reduced from 35% in 1999.
-A study conducted in 1994 found that 31% of male adult smokers and 26% of female adult smokers began smoking when they were 12 years old or younger.
-The good news is that in 2005, the smoking rate for Canadians aged 15 and older dropped to 19% - the lowest level in more than fout decades of monitming smoking rates. In 1965, when monitoring began, an estimated 50% of the population smoked.
