Ashlee Malespina-I njoy having a smoke. on a routine with it. I don't see anything wrong with it. It is my choice to smoke, not
lnybody else. I am sick )f being stereotyped as
a smoker.
Jessica Tripp-At the drug assembly, there was a student who made a disrespectful comment about smokers. It was unnecessary so I just want to make it
clear about my opinion of smoking. To start off with, smoking does·not make anyone lesser of a person. It is a choice we have made. I am not saying it is good for us because it is not. There is the high chance of cancer and death. But if people wish to smoke and you do not like it, do not put them down and make them feel like nothing because they are
something- they are human beings. Non-smokers always say we're disgusting, smell, and are going to die. However, most of them have actually took a drag ofa smoke or smoked at parties. So how is
the targeted disrespect fair? It is not. For me, we are all going to die eventually whether or not we smoke. The choice is ours, not other peoples. It would be nice not to be treated like an outcast or a disgusting person because me and my friends have a
great personality and have fun. It's my life, and my body. Not anyone elses.
'
Cassie Ostertag- I am a smoker. I en smoking since 2004. To me, I have a reason to be smoking as I lost an important person in my life. To · most people itwouldn't be a legiable reason to be smoking, but to me it is. I do not care that people do not like me as I have true friends that do. It does
not bother me that people do not have anything good to say about smokers. Because th~y do not know the life anyone has so to judge them, is disgustingly wrong. What happened to the morals people have been taught to treat others with
respect, is that invisible now? I am gathering so because it is evident at CCI and all over Canada. I am completely aware that smoking can cause serious problems such as diseases, cancer and the ultimate, death. Yes, I have thought about it, but I am not ready to quit smoking. Just as alcoholics will not quit until their heart and mind is ready. It was said at the Drug assembly that smokers stand at the pit and skip class. Guess what, I get to c1ass on time, I have not missed a class yet and my overall average is 87-90%. I make my own choices in life.
Cody Davidson- I quit smokin9 because I didn't want to smoke
anymore.
