     Taking the game
Seriously
By 1969, it was discovered that one could link a game to a television set. A computer scientist named N. Bushnell felt that he was being underpaid for his inventions so he decided to reach out on his own and founded a company . named Atari. It's first released game was entitled Pong and this led to the craze known as the video arcade. Operated by coins, these video games were soon found in every mall across North America. However, by the 1980's, interest showed a sharp decline and the number of new games being created slowed dramatically.
Hand held games seemed to increase in popularity. In 1972, a form of Tic, Tac, Toe was put on the market. A couple of years later Mattei distributed Auto Race and Football 1. Hand held sports games became all of the rage and the quality of graphics and colours improved significanttly. By the early 1980's, LCD technology had finally made games that could be produced cheaply and with durability.
The 1990's saw affordable video gaming systems being sold on 5 % floppies and later 3.5 floppies. However, this decade was still referred to as the age of "Video Game Crashes". A lot of really bad games appeared on the market and people were putting their money into home computers instead of games.
