1984 - Motorolla releases the first commercially available cell Jhone, the DynaTAC 8000X. The phone was very heavy )ecause of the battery and cost as much as a TV.
1990s- Second generation cell phones became available. They were smaller and lighter, and digital signals began to replace analog ones.
2000s- Third generation cell phones incorporated many multimedia features such as e-mail, internet browsing, and jata transfer.
Today - Cell phones today are capable of much more than making simple phone calls and its applications are virtually limitless.
Blackberry Vs. iPhone
The Blackberry, produced by RIM is a Canadian company based in Waterloo, ON. The companny was among the first to produce "smart phones" capable of sending and receiving emails, among other things. The phone created a cult following among the business world who were so addicted to the phones features, it was dubbed "crackberry". Although the iPhone has been able to erode some of Blackberry's competition, it is still popular among its most loyal customers.
The iPhone, is another winning product brought to you by Apple, makers of the iPod and Mac computers. Realizing cell phones are not just a fad, the company decided to produce their own version, challenging Blackberry's dominance as the leader of smart phone technology. The release of the iPhone in 2007 caused a major frenzy as Apple loyalists lined up for hours before its release to be among the first to get their hands on this sleek and beautiful device. The iPhone's popularity is no smoke and mirrors, as it is currently the number one selling cell phone in the world.
