Terry fox was born in in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was raised in Port Coquitlam, BC. He was 18 when he was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone caner). Terry was forced to have his right leg amputated 15 em above his knee. When he was in the hospital he was so overcome with all the sick children in the that he ran aceross canada raising money for cancer research. On september 1st terry fox was forced to stop running because the cancer had appeared in his lungs. Terry passed away june 28 1981 at the age of 22. Since then $400 million dollars has been raised towards cancer research. Every year people all over the world participate in the Terry Fox Run to raise money for cancer research. Collingwood Collegiate Institute is one of the many schools that participate in this event every year.
