The CCI Junior Girls Basketball team enjoyed a very successful yea r on the hardwood . Coaches Nickel and Gardner thought that 2008 would be a building year for the team with only 5 players returning from last seasons GBSSA Champs and the tallest player on the team being under 59. However the power of the grade 9 players soon became evident. Although we went through the entire season without meeting a shorter team we still
managed to win most of our games finishing the season with a 16 7, win loss record.The team participated in four tournaments this season, making the semi-finals in three of them. In a cross over playoff game in the league championships the Junior Owls defeated Barrie North 35 25. And then this put them into the GBSSA semi-finals in which the girls lost to #1. Barrie Eastview. Next season this will be a team to watch, as we have 7 players returning to play for the team again.
