THE C.C.I. COMMENCEMENT 1929 Annually we have a Commence- ment put on sole1y by the pupils and teachers of C.C.I. This is an out- standing event of the school year, both financially and entertainingly. This year it was held on Deoem- ber 19th and 20th in the Opera House. For many weeks previous every available. place in the school was used for practice, the gymn, au- ditorium and forms. The various numbers were well prepared and the :-tudents well-trained by the teach- ers. The programme consisted of Boys' Athletics under the direction of Mr. Reynolds, dances, Miss Ken- nedy and Miss Clark; pantomine- Miss Wales, Orchestra-Mrs. Ellis; play-Miss ~~ess and Mrs. Dr. Mit- chell, and the Glee Club by Mr. At- ;kim:on1' I()Ur princpial. Every num- ber was well-rendered, showing many talented artists in our school. The first night, Rev. F. G. Sher-
dng gave a fine Baccalaureate ad- dresf\ and on the second night the V aledictory address was given by Robert. InkstE:r, at present at Var- sity and former student of C.C.I. The chairman of the Board of Edu- oation, Mr. Allan Mcintosh, made a speech and formally -introduced our new principal, Mr. Atkinson. During the evenings, prizes, diplomas and medals were presented to the stud- ents who had won them during th'Oi year.
The ComJmencement concert was poorly attended this year. This is more probably due to the fact that the programmes are practically on the same lines from year to year, than to anything else. Due to the small attendance the school did not
take in as much money as usual. Let us strive to make our Com- mencements "Bigger and better than ever," by all co-operating and work- ing for old C.C.I. DORIS KELLS.
