THE "COSSA"
. The year 1930 marked the open- mg of a new era in C.C.I. history. Up to that year we had sent out our teams to Owen Sound, Barrie and Penetang to play rather haphazard exhibition games. In 1929, the Geor- gian Bay Rugby Football League wa~ begun and in 1930 this was made a district of the Central Ontario See- ondary School Association, a newly f.ormed organization along simiim· lmes as the WOSSA of Western On- tario. This association is sponsored by the Ontario Athletic Commission and already has done a greaf deal to help in inter-school sport.
The officers of the Georgian Bay District are as follows·
Hon. Pres.-Hon. W. A. Finlay- son. Orillia.
Hon. Vice-Pres.-Dr. Donald Mc- Kay, Collingwood.
on behalf of the students wishes them the very best of luck.
Who will save the British Empire'? Who will cement the Commonwealth of Nations together in closer bonds'? Who will create goodwill between the peoples under the Union Jack? Will politicians? Will trade treaties? Will tariffs? Maybe, but we think not.
The Empire will be cemented into closer bonds by athletes on the track o~ the river, in the tank. The good~ wi.ll, the ~ood sportsmanship, the fnendly rivalry of the first British Empire Games which pervaded every
nook and corner of Hamilton during the two weeks of athletic games and contests on land, on water and in the water cannot be equalled in half-a- dozen lmperial Conferences.
The names of the men who made this gigantic undertaking possible and who so carefully organized it that the whole programme went off without a hitch, should be given a place with Empire builders. They, a!ld ~ot the squabbling politician:'!, f1ghtmg over tariffs and treaties will bring the Empire together.

Owing to the period of depression which had no more pity on Colling- wood than on most of the other towns and cities in Ontario, the Board of E'ducation was forced to drastically cut their 1931 estimatea. The Tech. Dept. - Manual Train- ing and Household Science-was the first victim. These useful phases of our school life have been done away with entirely and our much respect- ed teachers, Miss Frizelle and Mr. Ellis will be leaving us. The Gleaner
