The Hamilton meet closed tne C. C. I. season as far as track and field sports were concerned. The seaso;1 just completed was perhaps the most successful yet on record in the C. C. I. This was probably due to Jack Portland who is destined, we are sure, to become one of Canada's greatest- athletes. The real credit goes to Mr. Reynolds who by hiil coaching has brought C. C. I. track and field sports to such a standard.
FIELD DAY
On Friday, Sept. 19, the 34th an-
nual Field Day of the C. C. I. was held at Exhibition Park. During the morning the field events were run off. The high-light of course was Jack Portland who topped the morn- ing's activities by clearing six f eet in the high jump.
During the afternoon the usual track events were held and keenly contested, in all classes. The cham- pions and fifteen point winners are:

On the same day, Jack Portland
won the Dominion Inter-scholastic High Jump ·in Montreal and set a 11ew record of 6 feet 1-8 inches.

The next meet, the one of the year, was held in Barrie where the beys failed to win their usual major- ity of firsts for the first time in years. Pickering College showed the other schools the way to the tape time after time.
On June 3, severai boys attended the Toronto Meet of the Toronto Boys' Council. F. Rice ran second in the 880-yard dash. Bus Portland, us- ing a tent pole for VB.ulting, when the Toronto entries refused to lend their poles, eliminated the Toronto
boys, but was hims.elf beaten by an entry from Hanover who had chosen an ancient bamboo stick.
Herb. Sproule, our representative at the Schoolboy meet in Hamilton, failed to place in the 120-yard high hurdles. Herb. was running against Pierdon who later raced Lord Bugh- ley in the B.E. games. Bus Portland
