The Collingwood ,collegiate Insti- tute held their 50th annual track and t1eld meet at the park ground late this :::;epLemller. After the first period in the morning sc.ilool was dismissed to the park. 'l'he girls were divided into teams consisting of about 10 or 11 girls with a fifth form girl as captain of each team. Each team sent one or two girls to each event depending on the event. These events included 50 and 75 ya1·d dashes, bicycle races, three legged races and basketball throws. 'l'nere were also team games including a good, rousing game of 'basketball and pyramid building, etc. Every girl did her best for her team and if ribbons were won she proudly presented them to her captain and these were promptly pinned onto her chest. The competi- tion was very keen and the winning team was only one point ahead of their closest riv·al when the ·meet came to a close. Isobel Hurst's ·team collected 59 points and so was declared the win- ning team for the school. This team included Isobel Hurst, Ruth Collins, Lorraine Cain, Shirley Brophy, Norma Beecroft, Ethel Cousins, Mai:jorie Dag- gett, Mildred Sawyers, Joey Peake, Shirley McLean and Betty Meek. A few individual events were held after the team events were finished but as it was getting late most of these were postponed. After a few pictures were taken, everyone trouped home to rest her weary bones and to prepare for school the next morning.
THE TUDHOPE MEET H. Butler
After a strenuous track meet the day before, the members of the C.C.I.'s track teams awoke confronted by the t h o u g h t o f a n o t h e r f i e l d m e e t i n th~o> form of the Tudhope Meet. rie, Orillia, Midland and Collingwood were the entrants. Collingwood girliil tinished third with 25 points, Orillia first with 39lh points and Barrie sec- ond w1th 35 points.

Collingwood girls placed first in the shuttle relay and members of this team included Marcella Plater, Fran Hill, Bette Davidson and Beryl Fawcett.
A fter all girls' events were finish- ed the .girls twined :to home or to school to clean up and prepare for the ban- quet and dance to follow.
OWEN SOUND TRACK MEET Helen Butler
The Owen Sound C.V.I. Annual track meet was held October 4, 1946 in Owen Sound. It was a perfect day for a track meet-warm and with a bright sun in the sky. MaY'be it was a ltttle too warm and everyone ended up with a sunburnt face bllt it was an enjoyable day. The girls team which included lBeryl Fawcett, Dorothy Ford, Marcella Plater, Fran Hill, Helen But- ler, Shirley Brophy, Jessie Beck9tt, De- nise Caron, Joyce .Lambert, Jessie Cros- bie, Shirley McLean, Betty Boyd and Barbara Discepolo arrived at the grounds in Owen Sound in plenty of time. Because of the great number of spectators and pa11ticipants the grounds were jammed with milling people. The pits and tracks were cleared and the meet was on. In ,the Senior girls soft- ball throw and basketball throw, Dor- othy Ford, with a mighty heave placed third in both events. No other senior girl placed in any of the other events. 'Beryl Fawcett captured nearly all hon- ours, she placed second in the 75 yard dash with Marcella Plater a close third. In the running broad jump Beryl made a smashing new record - she made a
