And so the Owen Sound meet end- ed with our tired but happy girls turn- ing homeward. Most of these g-irls hurried home to ~ret some sleep and to prepare for the Tudhope Meet held in Collingwood the very next day.
GIRLS BASRETBALL 1946-1947 Helen Butler
Girls' ,basketball this year proceed- ed under difficulties. Due to change of teacher so many times, the school operetta, early examinations and holi- days the schedule was never completed. Jt was very unfortunate that Miss Parkhouse resigned at Christmas but the task of teaching- P .T. was ably car- ried on by Miss Smith, Miss Pough- net and Mrs. McCarl.
The first formers this year picked up the game quite rapidly with IX~ girls defeating all other Grade niners. The IXB team consisted of A. Miller
ley McLean's team there were J. Wright B. :Boyd, M. Currie, E. Caddo, J. Van Nest and M. Morris. '
The Grade XI's didn't complete their schedule but the team consisting of Beatrice Neville, Denise Caron, He- len Smart, Mary Burgess, Esther Col- lins, Margaret Ann Grier, Lillian Ca- desky and Lorraine Cain was leading the commercial team by a few games.
The Grade XII and XIII combined forces and produced three teams from the ranks. As far as the games went the three teams were in a tie. These teams included: Team III Jean Moo;re
(capt.), J. Lambert, M. Lavers, M. Bourrie,·B. Dance, D. Ford and E. Cad- do; Team I: Joan McLean (capt), L. ·Caron, M. Myers, K. Hughes, M. Hug-hes M. L. McLeod; Team II: Mary Robin- son (capt.), I. Hurst, J. Crosbie, :S. Morris, F . Maitland and M. Wilson.
We hope that next year things will have settled down enough that the schedules can be finished, and a school champion named. But it was a lot of fun this year anyway.
