Dr. J.R.H. Graham, Creemore; A. Bell, Nottawasaga Township; G.D.Culham, Sunnidale Township; E.Brock, Collingwood, and W.J.A.Wright, Brock's Beach, Simcoe County representative, who fellow-members learned with regret, passed away suddenly in Alliston that same evening.
On Tuesday, October 14, 1952, the members of the Collingwood District Coll- egiate Institute Board, the staffs of Stayner and Creemore High Schools, as well as of Collingwood Collegiate, along with othe~ interested observers, witnessed the turning of the first sod for the new district collegiate. Mr. A. V. Christie, Chairman of the Board, turned the first sod with a gilded spade. Mr. G.B.Wheeler, Chairman of the Building Committee, pointed out where the new building would be located. Among those present at the brief ceremony were two Secondary School In- spectors of the Department of Education, F.C.Asbury and W.T.Ziegler. The inspec- tors, board members and teachers of the three schools then went to the Colling- wood Collegiate, where they had dinner together and shared a get-acquainted hour.
