The Girls' and Boys' Athletic Association of the c.D.C.I. has had
a very busy and prosperous school year. The group worked together willing- ly and co-operatively and through doing this achieved harmony and much friendship.
The association planned two social evenings to raise funds for athletic needs. The first was a school dance on January 27. Music was provided by the Melodie Men and in all respects it was a good dance with an average turn-out.
The second evening was our annual "Athletic Night" and it was held
this year on February 17. Something new was added when the Jarvis Collegiate boys' and girls' basketball tea.ms travelled from Toronto to play two
terrific exhibition games with C.D.C.I's teams. Here we would like to note that this was done through the efforts of Miss Willis, Ann Beynon
and Mrs. Geiger of Jarvis Collegiate who taught girls' phys-ed classes
in Collingwood as Miss Dorothy Ross. The c.n.c.I. girls' team played a terrific game as did the Jarvis Collegiate girls but Collingwood came out
on top of a close game by winning 17 - 12. Our boys were not quite as
lucky and lost to the fast-moving Jarvis team by a score of 52 - 30.
A banquet was served in the cafeteria for the participants and everyone ate lots and laughed just as much.
After the games, records were played and the students danced in the gr:;in~~8e~~I~!!e~~1!~~i=;~r~:~:~;~P~t ~~!~~s~§~~;i~rg~i~!~fa~~~~~;e~;king
our "Athletic Night" a success.
Certainly, through the eff'orts of every member of the "Athletic Association" we have had a terrific year and hope that we have supplied enjoyment and fun for every student of C.D.C.I.
