Drafting
THE NEW ERA
With the advent of the new technical wing in this school, Technical Education has taken on an entirely new concept. To meet the re- quirements of modern industry and commerce specialized training is required. The subject of Industrial Arts is now being replaced by a more extensive curriculum in specialized subjects. Under the new Robarts scheme, a student has the choice of either an academic, commercial, or a technical education.
Drafting, one of the fore-runners of the technical programme, is being taught by Mr. Twigg. This year it offers a course in Me- chanical, Structural, and Architectural Draft- ing.
The new subjects to be offered will all be taught by teachers who have had many year's experience in their respective trades, and this team will be headed by Mr. G. S. Tranter, Technical Director, who joined us in January of this year. Mr. Tranter has gained ex- perience in Technical teaching, both with the North York Board of Education and the Pro- vincial Institute of Trades.
