Junior G. B. S. S. A. Basketball Team
This year's Junior team must rank among the best ever turned out of our Collegiate. After losing their opening game, they proceededtorun up a ten game winning streak, finishing the season with a twelve won, three lost, record.
By the rebounding of Ockers and Harrison, the play-making of Abbotts, the scoring touch of Blacklock, along with the defensive play of Bishop, they defeated Midland in a two game total-point series for the Central Georgian Bay District Championship. Losing the first game by six point'3, they roared back to win the second by fifteen points, right on Midland's home court.
The rookies of the team must be commended for the way they came through when needed most, spelling off the regulars when a rest was badly needed, or fouls indicated that a player should retire. Another large factor in the success of the team was the often frustrated, but always energetic, Coach Titus, who ran his team with the genius of a computor.
With this Junior nucleus moving to Senior level next year, the 1963-'64 Senior team should provide plenty of excitement and thrills for the student body.
