PEACE! We surrender
In our first assembly, the members ofthe Students' Council Executives were introduced. Each member outlined his or her responsi- bilities on the Council and stressed the im- portance of electing capable and enthusiastic class representatives so that effective leader- ship could be offered to the student body. Sue Smith, Girls' President, took this opportunity to point out the merits of the controversial Students' Cards.
In the annual Football Assembly, the presentation of the Junior and Senior Team made the whole school realize that here were teams which deserved the support of every student.
On November 28, 1962, the Intermediate Commencement was held. Students who ob- tained eighty per cent or better in grades nine ur ten received Students' Council Awards. Last year's Grade X students were presented with their Intermediate Certificates.

On December 12, the Christmas Assembly
brought in the Yuletide Spirit. After the singing of a Christmas carol, the students were entertained by a skit about the "Night before Christmas." Jolly Santa Claus bounded on stage and read out his· list of gifts for the teachers, including such items as a rubber hockey stick to make the teachers' game more interesting and a microphone so that everyone would be able to hear Mrs. Russell singing to herself in the halls. Brian Hodges had the pleasure of introducing the seven Beauty Queen Contestants.
The Drama Club, in its assembly, presented its "Night of One Act Plays." Brief excerpts from each of the three plays were given as an interesting preview of the presentations on January 31 and February 1. In the Twirp assembly on February 14th, the Grades IX and X Bands played various selections.. Mrs. Black and Mrs. Russell presented Major Awards to three girls, Gloria Culbert, Sue Smith, and Cherryl Walker, all of whom have accumulated over six hundred points in three years. Pat Missett then introduced skits illustrating Twirp Season. Even in Hawaii, onthe ski trail, out west with the cowboys and Indians, and
in China, the men are tracked down and twirped. Even "Brigitte" Duggan got into the act.
To mark the Fifteenth Annual Observance of Brotherhood Week, on February 20th, Mr. H. Walton in-
troduced Mr. Hatton, who gave an excellent account of prejudice and its evils.
