This year's edition of the Midget Basket- ball team_proved a very pleasant ~urprise to many people. Faced with the prospect of flooring an all -rookie squad, Coach Freudeman went about his task diligently, and the result was a team that pertormed credibly, failing by only one game of getting into the playoffs, finishing in third place in the league.
The team's record for the year was eight wins and six losses. The high point in the season occurred when they were victorious in a tournament held at Owen Sound, where they defeated two strong home teams.
Despite a number of injuries key players which forced numerous lineup changes, the Midgets overcame their handicaps with the poise of seasoned veterans.

Throughout the season, Dave Hockley was the team leader, pacing the squad both in scoring and rebounding, as well as being an outstanding defensive man.
Before being forced to retire for the balance of the season because of an injury, Ron Culbert proved himself very adept at pouring in points, and his scoring touch was sadly missed. Dave Holroyd also missed two games, but looked very good in his guard spot when he was in operating order. Bob Shannon played the centre slot, while Gary Shaw, Ken Hume, Brian Barber, Bob Aukema, John Cooper and Bob Gallacher alternatedso as to give floor balance at all times.
Steve Sly, who played the last two season games, looked like a real find for next year, despite his relative inexperience.
