CURLING CLUB
One of the most enthusiastic clubs in the school this year has been the Curling Club. With over thirty members, they curled on Tuesdays
II and Thursdays from four to five thirty p.m.
The Club has provided some good representation for the school this
year. The GBSSA team consisted of Rob Shannon as skip, Dave Leal as vice, Mike Spencley as second, and Brian Hodgart as lead. Their major accomplishment was winning the district Pepsi-Cola Trophy in playdowns over Barrie, Camp Borden and A lliston. They placed second in the GBSSA, losing in the finals to the team which later won the 0 n tar i o championship. The team did well in every bonspiel they entered winning more than one-third in all of the games played.
Several Collingwood teams were entered in bonspiels in many places and almost every time placed first. Many other members participated besides the GBSSA team.
The Club hosted its Third Annual School Mixed Bonspiel on February fourth. Teams from near and far participated. It was a good success and everyone had a good time.
The qualified guidance and enthusiastic leadership of this year's club came, again, from Mr. Hastings whose help and hard work is sincerely appreciated.
