TRACK AND FIELD TEAM
The 1984-85 Track and Field season began in late February and ended in early June. During this time , the team competed in a total of seven meets, and for a change, we had some good weather as the sun- burns attested to.
During the year , the team had as many as 65 athletes on the roster, but by the time of the zone meet, only 43 team members remained. However , with a good team effort , we managed to win the zone 3 championship for the third year in a row and for the fifth time in the past seven
years. Led by our girls team, who won their division , we managed to edge out Banting by a slim 446.5 to 441 margin.
Thirty-one team members qualified for the GBSSA championships, and fourteen of these athletes, led by Tanya Cybulskie, qualified for OFSAA Regional Meet. At the regionals, only Tanya in the high jump and Colin McClure in the 400 m qualified for the OFSAA championships. At the OFSSA meet, Colin finished a very strong fourth place while Tanya ended up in tenth .
It was a good year, and the team party was enjoyed by all.
