Wisely shooting for the top
the Midget Girl's Basketball team had an excellent year . In league play , they were undefeated in all eight games. They played very well in 2 early tournaments and advanced to the finals every time. They defeated
Banting and Barrie Eastview at the Zone Finals in hard-fought, back-to-back games to emerge the Zone champions. The 2112 week hiatus, until GBSSA finals , seemed to effect them more than we realized and the team lost to Innisdale, the eventual GB champions.
The team played well , practiced hard and improved tremen- dously. It was a pleasure to work with the following young women:
Jill Blakeman: Captain and 'Leader of the Pack' . She was known for her ability to control the play and her great left- handed shot!
Jeanine Cragou: She was an aggressive guard, always look- ing for a pass.
Genny Currie: She was excellent at controlling the boards and the opposition.
Sherry Death: She was dynamite at rebounding, defense and passing.
Tara Deffett: She was credited with an outstanding jump shot, even though she played with an injury .
Michelle Fabian: This lady was another great defence. Connie Lanteigne: She had a great drive to the basket. Nicole Lovrics: This was a very aggressive player that scored more points than fouls.
Alexia Lulechis: This player displayed outstanding defence. Allison Lumsden: She was known for her great offensive skills .
Jodi Rabbitts: She was called 'the spark plug' who hustled all the time.
Melody Sammons: This lady had the fastest feet in town. Andrea Saunders: She was very versatile, playing both guard and forward, even without her earrings.
Kris Scudder: She was titled with being the only player that could piroutte and sink the shot.
Cindy Shaw: She was excellent at controlling the boards. Tracey Stetters: This lady loved to steal the ball and score. Then she only had to play 112 the court.
