The curling season of 1987ยท88 is the beginning of a new era at C.C.J.. Todd Lanktree helped with the new curlers before he graduated in January. He skipped a team of Shawn Brock, John Millsap and Rob Holroyd in the Gone Mutual Ins. competition held at Coll- ingwood. Our inexperience was obvious during the competition, but the team forced the other teams to play their best before we bowed out in two games. To gain more experience. Coach Cook organized some exhibi- tion games with Elmvale. We used the students available; Shawn Brock, John Millsap, Rob Holroyd, Jason Frye, Justin Frye, Mark Stephenson and Jason Thon whenever possible in order to gain experience. They did very well at Elmvale and the team of Shawn Brock, John Millsap, Rob Holroyd and Jason Frye travelled to Orillia for the GBSSA competition. The first game against Penetang was a real experience for new curlers on strange ice. Everyone found it difficult to ad- just and they lost. In the second game against Hunt- sville, they showed that they will be a team for the future in that they lost 8-7 in a game that could have gone either way. With the help of the elective program, Mr. Redmond and Mr. Cook are filling the rink with new curlers. The students had an excellent time and hopefully, many of them will consider joining next year's team. Hats off to Coaches Cook and Redmond and their successful "Fighting Owl" team!
