Love is the hardest of all emotions to define. Unlike anger, it has no reason. Unlike happiness, it has no source. It has no set beginning and no definite end. Like the will o' the wisps, it ap- pea,rs and disappears only to reappear again. There is no one love. There is the love a child feels towards his parents and the love an adult feels towards his parents. The love the young couple under the tree feels is different than the love the two old people on the bench feel. There .is the love felt bet- ween close friends and the love felt bet- ween an animal and the owner. For each love, there is its' own description, each of which is impossible to define.
Love is not painted in stark black and white, but in subtle shades of grey. It does not suddenly pounce upon a per• son, but slowly and gradually builds upon the person. Love can seem to fade away, but never does. There is always a spark of love left until the connection between the two people is broken. At that time, the love dies, but the death is not gradual. It is brief, abrupt and distinct.
Love is nothing that can be analyzed. It is not tangible, but it can be felt. It cannot be seen, but it can be sensed. It can be talked about, but never com- pletely described. That is how love is meant to be - a special, mysterious emotion between two people that defies explanation.
