WHAT A SET-UP
The 1988/1989 Midget Girls Team ended the year with a 7 and 8 win/loss match record . They played in three major weekend tournaments , placed sec- ond in one and were consolation trophy winners in the annual Blue Mountain tournament. Top notch playing was displayed throughout the year by Angie " Go Go Gadget" Cook, Jeannie " Madame Butterfly" Crago, " Jumping" Jen- nifer Garland, " Consistent" Connie Lanteigne, Allison "Jane Fonda" Lumsden, " Server" Shawna Maclean, and Bessie " Lou" Markow. Further skill and ex- pertise was always displayed by Martha "Masher" Mcleod, " Calm" Krista Meesters, Kate "Blind Spiker" Ralph , Andrea " The Bruiser" Saunders, Shan- non " Deep Setting" Stoutenburg, Laurie "Perma-pant" Swinwood and " Kool" Kathy Verrett. The year end party's highest distinction, that of " Pizza Queen" went to Jeannine, but strong competition was felt from Bessie, Connie, Kate, and Andrea. The whole team is to be commended for their devotion and hard work.
The Junior Girls team did not have a lot of success in league play this year but they show excellent potential for the future. All but three of the girls will be Junior again next year. The team participated in three tournaments and finished in the championship round of all three. The highlight of the season was their silver medal performance in the Blue Mountain Invitational Tourna- ment. The team played with great spirit and determination.
The Sr. Girls team started off the season in a winning way by taking the Silver Medal in the first tournament of the year in Midland and by winning the first two matches of the season. After a 50-50 season, the very strong teams from lnnisdale, Eastview and Banting eliminated the team from play-offs.
This season marks the end of an era as all, but one of the players will graduate in June. With these graduates goes a lot of talent and skill that will be missed. 1989-90 will be a rebuilding year for the Senior Girls team, as a result.
