LET'S GET TECHNICAL ABOUT THIS
On November 10, 1988, we hosted our first Technology and Hospitality Trades Fair. With the cooperation of many local businesses and industries as well as community colleges, we were able to highlight some of the oppor- tunities in these areas.
. To increase awareness of the opportunities 1n technological areas, we are introducing two new concepts. Students in five technological areas, namely Automotive, Electronics, Mechanical Drafting , Architectural Drafting and Precision Machining, will compete in Skills Olympics at the county level. The two winners in each area will go to Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete in the national finals of the U.S.A. Two students from the county went to Wichita, Kansas last year and placed very high in the competition. We will also be in- itiating an "adopt-a-shop" program locally. This program encourages local businesses and industries to become directly involved with our matching programs in school. Ashar- ing will take place whereby business and in· dustry will become involved in our course planning and delivery to ensure that our courses are relevant and up-to-date.
In closing, the Technical Department at Col· lingwood Collegiate Institute is striving to meet the needs of the community and to pro- vide students with a sound base upon which they can build a very solid future.
