A number of changes have taken place in the Technical Department this year. Under the auspices of the Simcoe County Technical Education Board Plan, we are upgrading our facilities and equipment. In September, we opened our brand new Restaurant Facilities Program. It is a com- plete, modern restaurant facility, capable of serving forty people for lunch every day. Courses are offered at Basic and General levels to Grades 9, 10 and 11. Students are provided with a good background to allow
them to go directly into employment or to take further post-secondary courses. Employment opportunities are excellent from this course, as they are from all Technological Studies courses.
The Simcoe County Board Plan has also provided us with computer-analysis equip- ment for the Automotive Program , computer-aided design equipment for the Drafting Program and sophisticated measurement equipment for the Auto Body Repair Program.
Further to our upgrading program at the Board Level, we have also contributed at the school level. By offering re-training pro- grams in carpentry and marine engines, we have been able to raise funds which have gone directly into equipment for our pro- grams. This has provided another C.A.D. unit for Drafting, a plasma cutting unit for We lding, and engine analyzer for Automotive, front-end alignment equipment for Auto Body and audio-visual equipment for the department.
