Putting Forth a Good Effort, Our
oy's Volleyball Teams Experienced an off Season!
The midget boys' volleyball team had a roller coaster season. This started at Earth with a win and two losses. From that point the boys blasted off and finished the re- mainder of the season undefeated. The team reached or- bit during the final three matches of league play; outscor- ing their opponents 3-0 three times. As they entered the zone play the word was out that CCI was flying high and was the team to beat.
At zones the warning light flashed on as Collingwood dropped their early morning match in an upset 3 games to 1. As the day progressed the danger light came on as it worked out that all teams lost once 3 games to one.
At this point the team had lost control and it was up to Mother Nature (A point spread tie breaker). She was not kind as gravity dragged the team back to Earth for a crash landing -- The team was eliminated.
Recuperating back on Earth (McDonald's) the team realized that this was not the end to the program and that next year will bring an opportunity to reach new heights.

There's an old athletic proverb that says, "winning is not everything". Although our season's record was a slender 1 win against 5 losses, our guys had a tremendously en- joyable season. The social atmosphere during practises was agreeable and competitive the bus rides were soberring as players contemplated their skill development, their play- ing time, their future as Olympic volleyball stars, and the probability of starting on the "first line." Generally the season was characterized by a number of high's and low's. Neutralizing the #1 Eastview spiker during our second match was a season's high . And , of course, Jeff Truscott's cannon-like spike against Stayner in our Exhibition game was the "eight wonder of the world." All right'' And the lowest point of the season? It was the unfortunate, seem- ing by uncontrollable event, of letting Banting off the hook when C.C.I. was ahead 2 games to 0. Thanks to all the guys for a great effort throughout the season'
You make coaching a really fun job.

The Sr. Boys Volleyball Team had a moderately suc- cessful season, just nearly missing the playoffs. Each member contributed in his own special way. We had a specialist in vertical height , middle blocking, serving, set- ting, passing and one who was able to keep the female spectators at the games!!' Rookie coaches Norman and Shackell would like to thank each of the men for their great team play, fellowship and sportsmanship.
