Although lacking in victories, the
irl's Basketball Teams had a lot of fun!!
The Senior Girls basketball season of 1989, was an in- teresting one. With Coaches Haiduk and Hirst, we began our year in high spirits with hopes for a fun season.
As a result, we did make the season a lot of fun. Although we only won one game, by one point, against St. Joes, who Stayner had to beat to get into the GBSSA's, (Way to go Stayner!). They only beat us by one point. Stayner also doesn't have Margaret's dinner manners, Tara's laugh, Sherri's legs, Genni's one handed foul shots, Paige's nasty re- bounds, Jill Blakeman's sore foot, Joanna's awesome lay-up shots, Gilda's what, what, excuse me, I don't understand, and Jill's ... oh never mind.
This year was fun and although we didn't win, a lot of never-ending friendships were created.
Thank you Henry and Bob for putting up with us and Mr. Haiduk ... of never mind!

The Jr. Team (MID. LT.) line-up involved: BK. ROW: Connie Lanteigne, Tara Deffett, Jill Besse, Shannon Stoutenburg, Krista Meesters MID. ROW: Coach Aikens, Jody Rabbitts, Allison Lumsden, Cindy Shaw, Alexia Lulechis FR. ROW: Jeannine Crago, Andrea Saunders, Besse Markou , Katie Ralph , Angie Cook.
The Midget Girls Basketball Team had a successful and en- joyable season. They were undefeated in league and play-off games and the champions of the lnnisdale Tournament. The winning season, unfo11tunately came to a sudden halt when we "choked" in the first game of the G.B.S.S.A. finals. We fac- ed the Midland Maurauders in a close, hard-fought game. The C.C.I. Owls fought from a 20 point deficit at the first quarter to pull within 6 points, but the Maurauders proved to be too much as the Owls went down to defeat. There is tremendous potential for a winning Junior team next year.
