Although We Suffered from Lack of Participants, the
rack and Field Team Excelled in Spirit!
Track and Field is a sport that in- volves eighteen events ranging from the 50m run to hurdles. Dur- ing the 1989 season, the track team at C.C.I. faired well. They placed sixth in the Simcoe County South Region with twenty-one members. Eighteen of these members were qualified to go to the GBSSA meet to display their ability.
Elaine Lindhorst of the Junior Girls Team, won in the 800 and
1500m runs and came second in the 3000m run . Jeff Truscott, of the Midget Boys Team, did an outstanding job placing first in the long, triple, and high jump events.
Thirteen members qualified for the OFSSA meet. It was at this meet that Jeff Truscott placed sixth and set a new school record . Hopefully, we will have more suc- cess in 1991 and have a larger and stronger team to bring the zone championship back to C.C.I.
