GIRLS' VOLLBYBALL TBAMS Bumping, Spiking, and Hitting Are Their Specialties!
The Midget Girls' Volleyball Team won seven of their games and only lost three this season. The final placement was third out ot ten teams. One of the highlights this season was winning the consolation award in the Stayner tournament. The team was led by Sheila Rol- ling, a co-captain and main spiker and by Kelly Clarke, one of the three setters. The two coaches, Mrs. Crago and Mr. Mickevicius each of the ladies for a terrific season.

Although the Junior Girls finished off their sea- son just short of play-offs, the girls proved that dedication and determination really does pay- off. The Junior Hooters made quite a 'splash' in league play as they demonstrated their fight- ing owl spirit and near mastery of the 6-2 sys- tem. The girls also participated in several tournaments including their own Pizza Hut In- vitational. Perhaps the highlight of the season was a 1st place finish at the Huntsville Tourna- ment and the rewarding weekend at Deerhurst Resort. Best of luck next year to returning Ju- niors: Jodi Blakeman, Jen Garland, Marllese Keller, Tracey Sneyd, Laurie Swinwood, Pam Spence, Jodie Robinson, and Jen Wels. Also the best of luck to Jeannine Crago, Krista Meesters, Jill Besse and Andrea Saunders as they move into senior competition. The juniors would like to thank their coaches Mrs. Nickel and Mrs. Gillham for their continuous support.

The Senior Girl's Volleyball Team started out slowly by dropping two matches. Because only 3 of the 9 teams in our division would make it to the playoffs, our backs were against the wall. We won the last six matches in a row to play in the zone playoffs. Our team of eleven girls shrank to eight as two members defected to the East - to learn French in Quebec and France. Coaches Norman and Shackell would like to thank each of the girls for a great sea- son. In return, the ladies thought they had a pair of terrific coaches.
