Throughout the school year, the Gleaner photographers were sent out on a variety of assignments. One such request asked the photographer to show how she/he could stop motion on film . While some chose to shoot the traditional

volleyball and basketball games showing the ball stopped in mid-air, one Gle- aner staff member decided to be 'a little off the wall'. One un- suspecting male named John Hamilton was called outside and told he was going to have his portrait taken for the year- book. Furthermore. Kathy Jo and Micheline Quesnel were even going to help him smile by holding snowballs near his face. HOWEVER, while John was innocently posed showing those pearly whites and the photographer was pretending she was still focusing, one of the assistants moved out of camera range. OKAY. JOHN, on the count of 3 smile ... 1, 2...
It in a fact that when this year- book comes out and John sees this photo, we know that he will be able to recall the slightest of detail about the moment that this photo was taken . .. what the weather was like when they went outside, how the snowball felt when it hit his head, who was standing be- hind him, etc. We only hope, however, what he will remem- ber what he did with the Glea- ner photographer. We haven't seen her since!!!

When Mr. Vanderweerdhof's Build- ing Construction class asked for a challenge, THEY GOT ONE! While the snow covered the ground. the crew of Room 132 was busy cutting, measuring and hammering. As the drifts in the tech. parking lot turned to water, large sections of wood were moved outdoors and soon it was obvious that a building was taking form. For a while, Mr. Coukell was excited at the thought that perhaps they were building an addition to his English portable. The smokers who inhabit this area were overjoyed at the idea that maybe a structure was being made that would allow them to light up
I in rainy weather without fear of get- ting wet. However. both guesses were incorrect. Instead. the class was building a cottage that would eventually be dismantled· and moved to Manitoulin Island . It was an excellent project for the class as each individual gained hands-on experience. By the way, the crew did a superb job!!!
