et's FACE it- when it comes to a display of school spirit, CCI is ranked in gold medal contention. It's true that it reaches a hype on a Spirit Day or during a pep rally, but upon closer examination, it becomes obvious that the pride in being a member of the Collingwood Collegiate team begins the first day of school and doesn't end until the last pen is put down at the conclusion of evaluation in June. There are line ups to have black and gold insignias painted on FACES which
co-ordinate with the black and gold attire worn by the individuals. 'Buy-out' finds every class room empty and the bleachers and sidelines filled with ex- cited fans cheering on the sporting teams . Canned goods are generously do- nated to food drives, carton after carton of milk is chugged in the cafeteria
during lunches and the popcorn machine runs non-stop during lunch hours in support of the entrepreneur class. School jackets are proudly worn by 'Fight- ing Owl' wrestlers, football halfbacks and female B-ball players while the stu- dents involved in World Class sport t-shirts bearing their latest cause. 'YAP'S' ice-cream waffles are considered as irressistable as the cases of red licorice sold in the school store. Students huddle over their Gleaners and stand in respect during the Remembrance Day assembly. The list goes on ... .
School spirit is just naturally displayed on the FACE of every student each day. It doesn't have to involve paint at all!
