The Junior Girls' Volleyball Team had an excellent season playing in 6 league games and participating in three tourna-
ments. The team won the consolation finals in two ofthe tournaments and were champions at the St. Joe's tournament. The girls placed first in their league by defeating every team they faced and then went on to play Eastview in their play- offs. Their victory allowed them to travel to the GBSSA championships. The team played well, but with tough competition and some changes In the tournament, the girls placed third. Great play was shown by all team members with a total of S2 wins and only 17 losses. Never Say Die' seemed to be the motto for this year's Senior Girls' Volleyball Team. Al- though it was not as successful as other years, the girls came on strong at the
end and the future looks promising. We lost our first game to St. Joe's, but all three games were close and they real- ized the importance of serving well. A- gainst Nouvelle Alliance and Jean Vanier, he girls played well and showed what was to come. Stayner proved to be difficult. Our neighbours always have a tough team and we went down in 3 straight games. Although, to be fair, we were implementing a new system and

the girls were just learning it. We sud- denly found ourselves in a do- or- die match against Barrie North to get to
the play-offs. No problem! We took
them in 3 straight as we played our best game of the season. Lead by "Mary- Beth" and Jen McKay, the team domin- ated from start to finish. We now found ourselves as the under-dog against second
place St. Joe's. Their coach was quite confident they would move on and was
all smiles and chuckles before the match. It looked like he was right as they took
the first game o f the match as we seemed nervous and not quite with it. However, in the second game we came on strong and defeated them soundly. The tide had turned. We took the third game on a strat- egic manoeuvre by Mrs. Sharp and it was on toe Eastview to play the Wildcats. Once again, we fell behind in the matcti by losing the first game although at one point we were up by the score of8-2. We dug deep once again and took the second game with a lot of hustle and grit, butitjustwasn'ttobe. Nextyear.... yeah, definitely next year.
