The Junior Football Team, led by rookie quarterback, David Simpson and driven by Jayden Bourgard, Ryan Purdy and Nick Arthur, displayed true grit. Plagued by injuries and low morale, the Owls quickly turned the season around and came into their own against Barrie North. Despite this loss, they won against Eastview, last year's GB champs. A special thanks go to Coaches Sammon, roe and Ruzylo for overcoming a difficult season. After a year of battling low numbers, the Sr. Fighting Owls started the 2000 football season with 35 enthusiastic players. A small core of experienced veterans led a huge contingent of rookies into battle on nine occasions. Generally, this years Owls scored points in bunches, but the
inexperience on 'd' meant that even more points were surrendered. The obvious highlight ofthe season was the overnight trip to Ottawa. A glorious victory on the gridiron was followed by an exiting OVA game at Queens University. The weekend was capped by the University of Western Ontario cheerleaders who picked up the Owls' largest player and tossed him like a rag doll. With twenty-five returning players there will be high expectations for the 2001 Owls.
